Anambra State House of Assembly has summoned lawmaker Bernard Udemezue for revealing details on social media about lawmakers diverting funds meant for public projects, including constituency allowances and personal allowances.
Udemezue shared that he disclosed his allowances to promote transparency and accountability to his constituents, criticizing colleagues for hiding the funds and not serving the people.
While the House has appointed a committee to investigate the matter, the incident has sparked public debate about lawmakers’ activities and perceptions of government funding, with some suggesting it exposes the self-interest of assembly members who previously portrayed the governor as underfunded.
