Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 171 associations have now submitted letters of intent to register as political parties, following 19 additional submissions.
The updated list is publicly available on INEC’s platforms. A review committee has completed assessing these applications and recommended candidates for the next registration stage, which is currently being finalized.
INEC urges applicants to remain patient and avoid practices that could cause delays, such as changing logos or multiple submissions. The registration process requires strict compliance with constitutional and electoral laws, including the establishment of a national headquarters, unique name and logo, nationwide membership, and a democratic constitution.
