Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has pledged readiness to host the 2028 National Sports Festival, emphasizing ongoing investments in sports infrastructure, including a 25,000-capacity stadium expandable to 35,000.
During a visit by a National Sports Commission team led by Director General Bukola Olopade, Diri highlighted improvements in security and facilities, such as CCTV systems and medical and sports venues, to ensure a successful event. Olopade praised Bayelsa’s bid and existing facilities, calling the state a “sleeping giant in sports.”
The governor also expressed confidence in Bayelsa’s ability to host, citing its hospitality and peaceful environment.
