Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Local Organising Committee have unveiled “Assad”, the official mascot for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, scheduled for December 21, 2025 – January 18, 2026.
Assad, meaning “lion” in Arabic, is inspired by Morocco’s iconic Atlas lion and symbolizes strength, pride, cultural authenticity, and unity across Africa. Designed as a friendly, youthful lion, he reflects the tournament’s vibrant identity and aligns with its official branding.
CAF says Assad will serve as a key ambassador, driving fan engagement in stadiums, fan zones, and community events, and will play a major role in marketing, digital content, and global promotional activities.
CAF describes the mascot’s introduction as a significant step in shaping the tournament’s cultural impact and enhancing its emotional connection with audiences.
