‎ Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has said Canada is ready to resume trade talks with the United States whenever Washington is prepared, following President Donald Trump’s decision to end negotiations over an anti-tariff advertising campaign.

Speaking before departing for regional summits in Asia, Carney noted that previous discussions had made “progress” and expressed readiness to continue when the U.S. is willing. He emphasized that Canada must focus on factors within its control, acknowledging that it cannot dictate U.S. trade policy.

Carney also pointed out that the U.S. currently imposes tariffs on all its trading partners and reiterated Canada’s commitment to strengthening trade ties with other nations.
