Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has issued an order on Monday preventing the state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), from inaugurating a newly confirmed Chairman and members of the Rivers State Services Commission until the court delivers its judgment.
The order was issued by Justice Frank Onyiri after a suit filed by Goodlife Ben, Amadi Echele, Chimenem Jerome, and others, who were appointed by the suspended Governor Siminialayi Fubara and confirmed by the Rivers State House of Assembly. They challenge their suspension by Ibas, arguing he lacks the legal authority to remove and replace them.
The court ordered the maintenance of the status quo and adjourned the case to September 29, 2025, for judgment.
