Newly confirmed Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.), has called for a unified national database and tighter financial tracking systems to combat crime and terrorism.
Speaking during his five-hour Senate screening on Wednesday, Musa said Nigeria must adopt basic security infrastructures used in developed nations, including a comprehensive citizens’ database to help trace offenders.
He argued that the absence of centralised information allows criminals to move freely across states, and urged the government to leverage ICT to make offenders financially traceable.
