Nigeria’s D’Tigers started their 2025 AfroBasket campaign with a 77–59 victory over Madagascar in their Group B opener in Luanda, Angola.

Despite a close first half (38–37), Nigeria pulled away in the third quarter, leading 55–46, and secured an 18-point win. Caleb Agada led with 22 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals, while Stan Okoye (13 points), Ike Nwamu (12), and Kaodirichi Akobundu (10) contributed significantly. Madagascar’s Sitraka Raharimanantoanina scored 20 points, but Nigeria’s strong third quarter proved decisive.

This marks Nigeria’s second AfroBasket win over Madagascar since 2011, with Agada also leading that game with 22 points.
