Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has won the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket championship by defeating Mali in the final in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
This victory marked Nigeria’s fifth consecutive Afrobasket title, making them the first country to achieve this feat and maintaining their unbeaten record for a decade, since their last loss in 2015.
The final was close, with Mali leading initially, but Nigeria rallied to win 75–61, especially strong in the fourth quarter with a solid defensive effort. On the other hand, Coach Rena Wakama, who previously led the team to victory in 2023, now has two titles to her name.
