A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Minister Nyesom Wike has expelled Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, along with other party members including Bala Mohammed, Dauda Lawal, and several senior officials, for anti-party activities.

The NEC also ratified the dissolution of the State Executive Councils of Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos, Edo, and Ekiti States.

These decisions followed clashes at the party’s Abuja headquarters and were justified by the acting National Chairman, Mohammed Abdulrahman, citing disregard for court judgments and actions damaging the party’s reputation. The NEC emphasized upholding discipline, the rule of law, and party unity.

Meanwhile, Factional PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, has called on U.S. President Donald Trump and the international community to intervene in what he described as Nigeria’s worsening political crisis. Speaking outside the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, Turaki alleged that the nation’s democracy is “under threat” and accused the faction loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of deploying armed thugs to block access to the secretariat.

He appealed for urgent global attention, claiming the situation had escalated to the point of endangering democratic governance. Turaki also declared that his faction is ready to make the “ultimate sacrifice” to defend their mandate.
