Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has criticized Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa for claiming that the government never signed any agreements with the union, stating that the documents cited are merely proposals, not binding agreements.
Alausa clarified that no formal agreements were signed, although the government is committed to resolving issues with ASUU.
Earlier, the government released N50 billion to settle academic allowances, but ASUU continues to demand clearer commitments on salaries, conditions, funding, autonomy, and legal reviews. Alausa has however, emphasized that high-level government officials recently met to discuss these matters.
