At the South-South Gas Utilisation Forum 2025 in Uyo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment, under President Bola Tinubu, to transform Nigeria into a gas-powered economy through a “Decade of Gas” initiative.
Speaking at the event themed “Utilizing Gas as a Catalyst for Sustainable Growth,” Ekpo emphasized the South-South region’s role as Nigeria’s natural gas production hub, which fuels industries and earns foreign exchange, yet struggles to fully benefit from its resources.
He urged participants to implement ideas and forge partnerships to shift the region from resource extraction to value addition and inclusive growth, aligning with the Petroleum Industry Act (2021).
