Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has achieved a record-breaking tax collection of N47.39 trillion from October 2023 to September 2025 under the leadership of Chairman Zacch Adedeji, appointed by President Bola Tinubu.
This amount exceeded the revenue target by 15%, driven by growth in both oil and non-oil revenues, reflecting successful tax reforms and modernization efforts.
This period also saw a 115% increase compared to the previous two years, with non-oil revenue making up 76% of total collections. Specifically, from January to September 2025, FIRS collected N22.59 trillion, surpassing its target by 20%, with non-oil taxes contributing N17.3 trillion approximately (128% of target) and oil taxes N5.29 trillion at approximately(98% of target).
