Founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Senate President, Senator David Mark, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic party due to worsening internal divisions, leadership crises, and irreconcilable differences.
In a letter dated June 27, he cited the party’s decline into a shadow of its former self and public embarrassment as reasons for his departure.
Mark, who served as a senator for 16 years and was Senate President from 2007, expressed his commitment to rebuilding the party in the past but now decided to join the National Coalition of Political Opposition Movement to help rescue Nigeria’s democracy. His resignation marks his first defection from the PDP since 1998.
