‎Germany’s Oktoberfest was temporarily shut down on Wednesday after a bomb threat linked to an explosion and fire in a house in Munich’s Lerchenau district. Police said the house had been rigged with explosives and set alight, leaving one man badly injured, who later died.

Authorities closed the Theresienwiese festival grounds until 5 p.m. as a precaution while investigations continued.

Oktoberfest, running from September 20 to October 5, is the world’s largest funfair, drawing 6.7 million visitors in 2024.
