Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has urged the Federal Government to urgently review Nigeria’s air safety and defence systems after Boko Haram terrorists reportedly used a drone to attack a military formation in Mafa, Borno State — marking a dangerous escalation in the insurgents’ capabilities.

Speaking to journalists in Mafa town on Friday, Zulum described the development as alarming, warning that the proliferation of armed drones among non-state actors poses a major national security threat. He called for the strengthening of Nigeria’s borders and airspace defences to counter the new threat.

While commending the Nigerian Armed Forces, Zulum urged residents to support security agencies with credible intelligence and advised members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) to remain resilient.
