Guinea-Bissau’s military has announced Gen. Horta N’TA as the new junta leader, marking a forceful takeover following the country’s presidential election.

The military will oversee a one-year transition, citing political instability as the reason for intervention.

While President Umaro Sissoco Embaló’s whereabouts remain unknown; he claims to have been arrested, with opposition figures suggesting the coup was fabricated to avoid losing an upcoming election.
