gunman in his early twenties has opened fire at Annunciation Church in Minneapolis during a Mass attended by school children, killing two pupils (ages 8 and 10) and injuring 17 others, including 14 children, with two in critical condition.
The attack occurred on Wednesday, targeting students celebrating their first week back at school. The shooter used a rifle, shotgun, and pistol before taking his own life in the church parking lot.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara called it a deliberate and cruel act against innocent children while Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey expressed grief and outrage, emphasizing the trauma to the community.
President Donald Trump also noted Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI )involvement and called for prayers , The incident adds to the ongoing issue of school shootings in the U.S., amid persistent political gridlock over gun control.
