National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives has called off its warning strike after a meeting with the government, announced by Health Minister Ali Pate.
The strike, which began on July 29 over demands for better welfare, allowances, and working conditions, was scheduled to end on August 5 but was halted following the agreement
While Union leaders, who had previously criticized the government for lack of engagement despite a 15-day ultimatum, did not speak after the meeting, the union’s key demands included increased allowances, a separate salary structure, mass employment, and a dedicated nursing department, driven by long-standing frustrations over neglect.
