Heartland FC has earned their first win in the 2024/25 Nigeria National League season with a 2–1 victory over Edel FC in Owerri.
They took the lead just 45 seconds in when Murphy Ndukwu finished a sharp run into the box. Also, Joel Okoro doubled the advantage before halftime with a deflected long-range strike.
Additionally, Heartland wasted several chances early in the second half, as Edel FC grew into the game, pulling one back in the 57th minute through Obi Emmanuel after a swift counter-attack. However, despite late pressure, Heartland’s defence held firm to secure the three points.
speaking after the game Assistant Coach Taiwo Enegwea praised the team’s determination but noted the need for better finishing and defensive sharpness., he stated more work would be done during the training session to correct errors made during the match.
