House of Representatives has expressed concern over the increasing presence of security personnel operating in mufti at major checkpoints in Nigeria’s South-South and South-East regions.
They described this trend as worrisome and potentially dangerous to travelers. The concern was raised through a motion by member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Ibe Osonwa, highlighting claims that police and Civil Defence officers are manning roadblocks without proper identification, violating Nigeria Police Act 2020 guidelines.
