Imo State Police Commissioner, CP Aboki Danjuma, has issued a firm directive prohibiting all tactical teams under his command from using unmarked vehicles—including mini-buses and tricycles (commonly known as Keke)—during patrol operations across the state.
In a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, the new directive was prompted by numerous complaints of harassment, intimidation, and extortion by tactical officers operating in unapproved vehicles during routine patrols.
He further explained that the CP described such practices as grossly unprofessional and emphasized that any team found violating the directive will face immediate sanctions. Additionally, commanders of such teams will be held vicariously liable for any infractions.
