Imo State Government has issued a warning against promoting ethnic tensions under the guise of fighting insecurity, emphasizing that such actions threaten the safety of Ndigbo across Nigeria.

The government condemned a viral video by an aide to Emeka Ihedioha, which accused Fulani herdsmen of crimes and criticized Governor Hope Uzodimma for alleged inaction.

The Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba, has dismissed these claims as baseless and inflammatory, noting that police investigations have not linked the arrested suspects to Fulani perpetrators. He further highlighted that crime rates have decreased significantly, with thousands of arrests and recoveries made.

Emelumba further accused opposition politicians of creating divisive narratives to damage Uzodimma’s reputation, asserting that the governor has been effective and transparent in his duties. Additionally, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to security and unity, dismissing attempts to incite ethnic divisions.
