Imo State House of Assembly has moved to strengthen the state’s education sector by adopting a motion calling for a comprehensive state policy on free and mandatory basic education, digital enhancement, a student loan help desk, and the creation of an Education Trust Fund (ETF) as part of the 10-Year Imo Development Plan.

The motion, sponsored by Chisom Ojukwu representing (Nkwerre ), emphasized that education is vital for social and economic development.

Ojukwu however, praised Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration for its reforms, including banning illegal school levies, renovating classrooms, and improving teacher recruitment and supervision. He also urged the establishment of a Student Loan Scheme Help Desk in the Ministry of Education and an Education Trust Fund ETF to ensure sustainable funding and access to federal educational programs.
