Imo State Government has released reports about plans of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) causing major power outages in Imo State to sabotage the Light Up Imo project, which aims to provide reliable electricity across the state.
The government believes EEDC is determined to maintain its monopoly on erratic and costly power supply and is preparing to blame outages on the state’s licensed electricity provider, Orashi Electricity Company, to discredit it.
According to this intelligence, EEDC is reportedly afraid that the new project will threaten its revenue and dominance. The government warns that this plot could cause unnecessary hardship and economic losses, and security agencies have been alerted to prevent sabotage efforts.
