Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has announced that his administration is finalising the state’s first-ever N1 trillion budget for the 2026 financial year. The figure was revealed during a special Executive Council meeting to deliberate on the proposals before their presentation to the Kano State House of Assembly next week.
Yusuf said the record-breaking budget reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure, urban renewal, and socio-economic development. He attributed the increase to improved internally generated revenue (IGR) and the blocking of leakages in the revenue system.
The proposed 2026 budget will prioritise housing, agriculture, education, healthcare, and support for small and medium enterprises, with the aim of boosting economic growth and improving livelihoods in the state.
