Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga has died at age 80 during a health checkup in India. He reportedly collapsed while walking with family and a doctor at the Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital in Kerala and was declared dead after being rushed to a hospital.
Born on January 7, 1945, Odinga spent much of his political career fighting for democracy, often in jail or exile, and entered parliament in 1992. He also ran unsuccessfully for president five times, most recently in 2022.
