Lagos State Government has revived its “Cash for Trash” initiative, encouraging residents to exchange recyclable waste for cash as part of efforts to promote recycling and combat climate change.
Announcing the move on Monday via X, Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said residents would be rewarded every Thursday for bringing recyclables to collection points.
The programme, managed by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), aims to reduce waste, keep the city clean, and create income opportunities for communities.
