President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has expressed support for the Senate’s efforts to enforce Local Content laws, which he described as a national crisis.

He lamented that many companies continue to violate these laws, employing foreign workers while sidelining qualified Nigerians, and called for stricter enforcement.

Ajaero further highlighted concerns such as salary discrimination, job displacement, capital flight, and proposed the creation of a centralized databank to track cases of violations and convictions. He also questioned the commitment of some government agencies to enforcing the law.

Prior this reaction, the Senate Committee on Local Content pledged to investigate reported violations and review complaints, with the aim of protecting Nigerian jobs and enforcing compliance with Local Content laws.
