Liverpool Football Club has retired the number 20 shirt worn by Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away along with his brother, André. The decision, announced on Friday, was made in consultation with Jota’s wife, Rute, and his family.
The club described Jota as a uniquely wonderful person who wore the number with pride, leading to many victories. This marks the first time Liverpool has retired a squad number, honoring Jota’s legacy across all levels of the club, including LFC Women and the Academy.
