Importers of petrol in Nigeria have lowered their prices below those offered by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, sparking increased competition.
While Dangote’s refinery sells at around N820 many importers are reducing prices to stay competitive, with some depots selling at N815 per litre.
Dangote has however, criticized this price competition, claiming it undermines local refining and urges the government to ban fuel imports, advocating for policies that favor domestic production. Meanwhile, industry stakeholders emphasize the benefits of market liberalization and the regulatory authority’s role in preventing substandard fuels. I’m the other hand, Dangote argues that protecting local refiners is essential for fair pricing and economic growth.
