Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has met with Tunisian President Kais Saied in Tunis to discuss Italy’s Mattei Plan for Africa, focusing on economic development, energy diversification, and migration control.

Named after Enrico Mattei, the plan aims to promote sustainable growth by creating jobs and improving infrastructure in sectors like education, healthcare, water, agriculture, and energy.

Italy further seeks to foster a “non-predatory” partnership with Africa to provide alternatives for African youth, thereby reducing irregular migration via the Mediterranean.
