Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has urged Nigerians in the diaspora to invest in Nigeria’s health sector and help reduce medical tourism.
Speaking at the 16th Annual Mbaise USA Convention in Minnesota, she officially launched the construction of Medville Medical City in Imo State, a project led by the diaspora community. She emphasized that Nigerians abroad should view the U.S. and Europe not as permanent homes but as platforms to acquire skills and resources to develop Nigeria.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu further highlighted the importance of diaspora-driven initiatives in transforming local communities and praised Mbaise USA’s contributions to healthcare and development. She additionally pledged government support for the Medville Medical City project, describing it as a legacy that could elevate Nigeria’s healthcare standards. The event also saw commendation from the wife of Abia State’s governor, Priscilla Otti, who expressed interest in future collaborations.
