‎ Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) has reported that Nigeria imported over 560,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser raw materials in 2025, reflecting the government’s commitment to ensuring consistent access to agricultural inputs under the Presidential Fertiliser Initiative (PFI).

Currently, at least 10 vessels are discharging fertiliser raw materials at Nigerian ports this year, supporting local production and stabilizing the fertiliser supply chain. Since 2022, 48 vessels have delivered raw materials for fertiliser blending, with the ongoing imports strengthening Nigeria’s food security efforts.

The PFI, now in its third phase (PFI 3.0), aims to establish a reliable raw material supply for blending plants nationwide, advancing Nigeria’s goal of self-sufficiency in food and industrial crop production, aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for food sovereignty.
