Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has condemned the treatment of Ms. Comfort Emmanson during an Ibom Air flight, calling it a violation of her dignity.
The NBA pledged to provide her with free legal support and criticized the airline and the Airline Operators of Nigeria for imposing a lifetime ban without a fair hearing. They described the incident—where Emmanson was forcibly removed, stripped publicly, and humiliated—as unlawful and degrading, potentially amounting to false imprisonment.
The NBA further called for an independent investigation before any disciplinary action, emphasising that only aviation regulators can suspend passengers, and condemned the circulation of unedited footage exposing her nudity as a privacy invasion. The association demanded that Ibom Air revoke the ban, issue an apology, and that authorities investigate and sanction those responsible.
