National Economic Council (NEC) has called for strengthening State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs) nationwide and urged the Federal Ministry of Finance to release emergency funds to prepare for impending floods.

This decision followed a presentation by NEMA’s Director General on 2025 flood preparedness and response plans. The council also directed local governments to take ownership of risk mitigation, promote awareness, and report early flood risks, with funds allocated to each state, the FCT, and relevant federal agencies for preparedness efforts.
