‎ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has apologised to Qatar for a September 9 strike in Doha that targeted Hamas leaders but also killed a Qatari security guard and violated the country’s sovereignty.

According to a diplomat, Netanyahu expressed regret during a phone call from the White House to Qatar’s prime minister.

The Israeli leader had previously defended the strike, but pressure from US President Donald Trump—who has close ties with Qatar and is pushing for a Gaza ceasefire—prompted the apology.
