Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has criticized Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers and captain William Troost-Ekong after their 1-1 draw with South Africa in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
The NFF highlighted Dessers’ poor performance, noting he was slow, ineffective in aerial duels, and failed to energize Nigeria’s attack, leading to his substitution at halftime.
Additionally, the NFF blamed Troost-Ekong for scoring an own goal that gave South Africa the lead. Despite efforts to equalize, Nigeria couldn’t find the winning goal, jeopardizing their qualification hopes.
