Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has denied reports that it plans to amend its statutes at the upcoming Annual General Assembly on September 27 in Ibadan, emphasizing that no such changes are being considered.
The federation explained that a workshop on September 26, involving members, FIFA, and CAF officials, is only to discuss potential proposals for new statutes, and any decisions will only be made after consensus is reached.
The NFF further reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and proper reform processes aimed at strengthening governance. Meanwhile, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), which had called for a boycott over its exclusion from NFF activities, temporarily suspended its protest after the NFF assured there are no immediate plans to amend statutes. SWAN expressed hope for constructive dialogue and emphasized the importance of media inclusion and credible governance in Nigerian football.
