President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero has called for collective efforts to promote labour justice and strengthen industrial harmony in Nigeria.
Speaking at the 2025 Annual Public Lecture of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), themed “Labour Law and Labour Law Education,” Ajaero criticized the use of judicial processes to suppress workers’ rights, urging the judiciary to protect workers against exploitative employers. He also pressed the Federal Executive to fast-track the passage of reviewed Labour Administration Laws to align with global standards.
Also, NICN President, Justice Benedict Kanyip, in his remarks emphasized the need for labour law education in schools to enhance public understanding of workplace rights and obligations. He however highlighted the link between labour justice and social justice, advocating for fairness and dignity in workplaces.
