Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to President Bola Tinubu’s government, demanding the quick appointment of the National Pension Commission’s governing board and accountability for alleged diverted workers’ funds through the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).
The union also challenged the government’s claim of ownership over its headquarters, asserting it belongs to Nigerian workers.
While NLC President Joe Ajaero criticized media bullying of trade unions, he warned that if the government does not address these issues within seven days, including the return of diverted funds and proper board formation, industrial action may follow, threatening sector peace.
