Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has sued Imo Police Commissioner Aboki Danjuma for defamation, demanding N10 billion in damages and N50 million as exemplary damages.
Kanu also seeks a court order for the defendant to issue a public retraction and apology in national media, after Danjuma’s July 25 press release falsely attributed deadly attacks in Imo communities to IPOB/ESN members.
Kanu’s suit alleges that the police chief’s statement was false, malicious, and defamatory, and seeks to stop further similar statements.
