Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has filed a legal objection to the continuation of his terrorism trial in Abuja.
He argues that prosecuting him under the now-repealed Terrorism (Prevention) Amendment Act 2013 and based on a proscription order obtained without fair hearing violates his constitutional and human rights.
Kanu contends that the ex-parte order proscribing IPOB is unconstitutional and that certain charges should be dismissed on the grounds of double jeopardy, asserting that the trial’s basis is flawed and unlawful.
