Nigeria Railway Corporation Managing Director Kayode Opeifa has apologized to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT chapter for assaulting a journalist and a staff member of media house while reacting to the Abuja-Kaduna train derailment.
Opeifa expressed remorse, saying he was carried away in the heat of the moment while trying to ensure safety.
Before now, the NUJ had condemned the incident and demanded a public apology. In the meantime, NUJ FCT Chairman Grace Ike has called for calm among journalists following the event.
