Leading opposition figure, Peter Obi, has announced his intention to run for President of Nigeria in 2027, dismissing rumors that he might serve as a running mate to Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, during an interview on national television , stated he is going to contest for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He further emphasized his continued commitment to the Labour Party, though he remains an active member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, which is backing opposition efforts to unseat President Bola Tinubu of the APC, who is seeking a second term in 2027.
