President Bola Tinubu has approved a one-year extension for Nigeria Customs Service Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, now serving until August 2026 instead of August 2025.
The extension aims to support ongoing reforms, including modernization, the National Single Window Project, and Nigeria’s commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
So far, President Tinubu has praised Adeniyi’s leadership and believes the extension will enhance the Customs Service’s ability to facilitate trade, generate revenue, and secure borders. Recall Adeniyi was appointed in October 2023, initially serving in an acting capacity before confirmation.
