President Bola Tinubu has addressed Nigerians at 7 a.m. today Wednesday to mark the 65th Independence Day, his third such address since taking office in May 2023.
The speech was broadcasted live on national television and via other media platforms. The celebration theme, “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,” emphasizes unity, collaboration, and patriotism to foster peace and progress, reflecting on Nigeria’s resilience since 1960 and the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Other Activities for the day include a Juma’at prayer which happened on September 26 and an inter-denominational church service on September 28. However, the planned independence parade for October 1 has been canceled but does not diminish the significance of the anniversary, with the government committed to celebrating with dignity and enthusiasm.
