President Bola Tinubu has ordered the withdrawal of police officers assigned to VIPs across Nigeria, directing that they be redeployed to core policing duties.
During a security meeting with service chiefs and DSS leadership in Abuja, he emphasized strengthening police presence in communities, especially remote areas with insufficient police stations.
So far, VIP protection will now be handled by armed personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the President also approved the recruitment of 30,000 additional police officers and is working with states to upgrade police training facilities.
