U.S. President Donald Trump will hold meetings with leaders of Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, and Senegal from July 9 to 11.
The gathering appears to continue recent U.S. diplomatic efforts in Africa, following last month’s peace deal between Rwanda and the DRC. Unlike a tense May meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, the upcoming summit is expected to focus on trade and commercial relations, with Trump prioritizing economic ties over humanitarian aid. A broader US-Africa summit is also planned for September, though details remain unconfirmed.
