Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE) has reported that the price of shea nuts has dropped by over 30% following Nigeria’s six-month export ban. While the government aims to boost domestic value addition and industrialization, CPPE warns that the immediate implementation has caused significant disruptions, harming farmers, aggregators, and exporters.
The organization advocates for a phased approach with clear timelines to help stakeholders adjust, emphasizing the need to protect farmers’ incomes and avoid forcing primary producers to subsidize processors.
Also, Farmers in Niger and Kogi States have continued to complain about falling prices since the ban began on August 26, 2025.
